The exact location and timing remain to be determined; ideas/suggestions regarding where to convene the event are appreciated. BillStowell's blog | login to post comments

Meeting Notes 7-24-10Submitted by BillStowell on Fri, 2010-08-13 15:48.
Eleven CLUG members were in attendance for our Open Meeting on 7/24/10. Steve opened the meeting at ~ 10:30 am with the following question: “If you had $250.00 to spend, what would you buy?” There were a variety of answers to that question, however, Koblish brought with him an ACER Aspire R1600 which costs ~$200.00. He plans to use the very compact unit as the front end for his MYTH front end. It is a very compact unit that makes very little noise. There were, as usual, multiple discussions. The one your erstwhile secretary immersed in was a discussion of the theories discussing the possibility of generating gravitophotons (a directed gravity field). If the theories prove to be correct, Star Trek and the Enterprise might go the way of Dick Tracy's wrist-radio (everyone can have one). If you're interested in the background, google Heim theory , Droscher and Hauser and gravity. ( categories: Meeting Notes )
Clug Picnic June 26, 2010Submitted by BillStowell on Sun, 2010-07-18 10:15.
When: Saturday, June 26th. 10:30 - Dark The CLUG picnic this year was a great success for the dozen or so folks attending. Food fare was excellent including broiled hot dogs and hamburgers prepared by Master Chef Steve Jones, delicious salads, diet killing desserts and, of course, cold water and sodas. The shelter provided a safe haven from the sun with a cooling breeze accentuating the ambience of a relaxed summer day. Despite the sultry combination of sun and humidity outside the shelter the dining facility was comfortable. ( categories: Meeting Notes )
Clug Meeting 5-22-10 Presentation about Rescue CD by Steve JonesSubmitted by BillStowell on Tue, 2010-06-01 20:49.
Steve Jones called the meeting to order at approximately 10:35. Approximately 15 people were present. While Steve was setting up his presentation, Mark Harris reminded the CLUG group that Oreilly offers a 35% discount on online orders of its books if we used the code : DSUG He also mentioned a special offer of $9.99 for any digital download of a book. The code for the price break for a digital download is: FABFA. Thank you Mark for informing us all about the excellent savings on good tech books. Steve packed a ton of information in his approximately 1 hour presentation. Fortunately, he provided us all with a handout with many of the important howtos associated with rescuing a system. About the Upcoming Flash NetworkSubmitted by dford on Tue, 2009-03-10 21:01.
I got this idea when I was standing in the closing ceremonies at last year's Ohio Linux Fest. About 1000 True Geeks were waiting as they raffled off books. They were all ages - from barely teenagers to octogenarians - and all shapes, sizes, hair styles, and what-have-you. I thought to myself, "I wonder, if we took the people in this room, and 1000 random computers, and we took 1000 Microsoft Types, and gave them 1000 random computers, which group would come up with a working network the fastest?" Any guesses? ;) So, as Your Humble Program Director, I decided to put it to the test. This coming meeting, bring a computer (or computers), and any networking "stuff" - cables, switches, NICs, hubs, routers, etc. - you may have, and let's just see how Our Tiny Corner of Geekdom will fare in putting up a working network. Those who're "Old Hands" at networking can teach us "Absolute Newbies" anything and everything, and I'm sure a lot - a lot! - of knowledge will be imparted and (hopefully!) absorbed. What To Do for a "Precondition Failed" Error When PostingSubmitted by kip on Fri, 2006-01-06 19:00.
The CauseOne cause of this error is the mod_security Apache module used by TextDrive (our website host). If the module finds a string in your post that it doesn't like (such as those frequently used in attacks), it will cause Apache to emit this error. ( categories: Web Site Development )
