We don't have a formal mission statement. Our goals are very simple. We have discovered GNU/Linux and want to talk to others who have made the same discovery. We are experts and novices, professionals and hobbyists, young and old. Whoever you are, we hope we have something for you.

purchase work-in-progress manuscripts of selected titles. You'll even
have the chance to shape the final product by sending feedback to the
author and editors. The beta version just debuted with four

January 28 meeting

Submitted by celeste on Sun, 2006-01-22 16:18.

Steve Jones is giving a talk on how to recover from booting errors/issues. This is a talk that is targeted towards problems that new users may run into.
We will be voting on a new place to have our meetings. Please bring the name, address, cost, do they have wireless or net access, and if there are any special requirements for us using the facility (insurance?) for any places that you would like us to consider. I would like the CLUG members to vote on the sites presented at the end of the meeting.
Looking forward to seeing you there.

What To Do for a "Precondition Failed" Error When Posting

Submitted by kip on Fri, 2006-01-06 19:00.

The Cause

One cause of this error is the mod_security Apache module used by TextDrive (our website host). If the module finds a string in your post that it doesn't like (such as those frequently used in attacks), it will cause Apache to emit this error.

Nth Annual CLUG Picnic

Submitted by kip on Sun, 2005-10-09 20:35.

The Nth annual CLUG picnic was a success, no matter how you slice it. Take for example the nicely sliced ham, beef franks, and giant pork sausages, courtesy the John Morrell company by Sandy M. The weather was cool, and there was a breeze off and on, but no rain unlike last year's N-1th annual picnic, where the rain thankfully kept the cicadas at bay.

So what do a bunch of technophiles do when they gather for a picnic? Freeze things in liquid nitrogen, of course... beginning with ice cream.
