Celeste Gale will give a talk on her Mars Society experience in 2005 working in the Utah desert for two weeks in a space suit with an international crew. This short talk will be followed by a description of the open source program Celestia. This will be a lightweight talk. We will break for lunch and then have the Demofest. There will be one on one demonstrations of Linux and Open-Sourced software. All meetings are open to the public, but if you want to see what Linux or our group is all about this meeting will have several applications on display.
Demofest in September

The following demos are planned(many of the packages below are open-sourced and free to use):
Mark Harris on multimedia (Audacity for manipulating music files)
Mark Borgerding on scientific computing (some of the packages available for Linux)
Celeste Gale on Celestia (astronomy software packcage)
Aaron Newcomb on Cinerrla (used to create and edit video files)
Don Smith will demo live distros
Pat McKelvey will demo Gnucash and Openoffice (word processing and spreadsheet basics in Linux)

If you are planning on attending this talk and have specific questions or areas you would like the speaker to address, I would encourage you to post them here.
